Brainspotting
A new pathway to processing what words can't quite reach
“Where You Look Affects How You Feel” - David Grand, Developer of Brainspotting
If you've ever felt like you know something is affecting you, but talking about it in circles hasn't gotten you where you need to go, Brainspotting might be worth exploring.
Brainspotting is a focused, body-based therapeutic approach that works with the way our brain and nervous system store difficult experiences, often below the level of conscious thought or language. By using a specific eye position (a "brainspot") connected to the issue you're working through, this approach helps access and process stuck emotional and physical material that talk therapy alone sometimes can't reach.
It's a gentle but powerful way of working and less about analyzing an experience, and more about letting your brain and body do what they're already wired to do: process, release, and integrate.
Why I'm drawn to this work
I'm always looking for approaches that meet people where they actually are, not just cognitively, but somatically and emotionally. Brainspotting has become a meaningful addition to how I work, particularly within the Intensive sessions where the extended time allows this kind of processing to unfold naturally, without being rushed. However, with good preparation, we can practice brainspotting in hour long sessions as well.
Is Brainspotting right for you?
This approach can be especially supportive if you:
Feel "stuck" in patterns, emotions, or reactions you can't quite explain
Have tried talk therapy and feel like something deeper hasn't been reached
Are processing grief, trauma, anxiety, or a major life transition
Are highly sensitive or deeply feeling, and need an approach that doesn't rely solely on words
Want to explore this work within the focused container of a intensive session
